And She Shocks Another Person Yet Again...

I went out to eat with my parents yesterday after work. Sad way to spend a Friday night, eh? It was pretty "meh," but then again, things have been pretty lackadaisical lately. Seriously, what happened to all the interesting, random, spur of the moment things that used to go on before I graduated college? Anyway, after dinner, we decide to look around the local car dealership lots, and browse around a bit (re: this post). I've still yet to decide on the Civic or the RAV4. I guess I just wanted to compare prices and whatnot.

After a few minutes of browsing, one of the salesman comes out as we're looking at some new Civics and Accords. He introduces himself, blah blah blah, and then asks how he can help us. So my dad says that I'm been working at my job for a while now and that I was looking into buying a new car. I thought it was odd that the salesman wasn't directing any of the questions at me, as I was the one that was wanting to buy. I finally get tired of nobody letting me say anything, so I chime in. This is pretty much how things went:

Me: Yeah, this is going to be my first big purchase with my job. Everything's all on
me.
Salesman: (looking at me like I'm f-in' crazy) Wow, really?! You mean your parent's aren't going to help you? What kind of job do you have where you're making enough to pay everything on your own? Teenagers usually...
Me: I'm a Registered Nurse.
Salesman: (Eyes widened and he looks shocked as hell)
Me: I graduated from a university.
Salesman: (Eyes still widened and looking shocked as hell) Oh wow, congratulations! (Shakes my hand). I'm sorry, I thought you were still in high school. Wait, how old are you?
Me: 23
Salesman: What?! Really?! You don't look your age at all. I thought you were 16 or 17. You just look really young. Really young.
Meanwhile, my parents are standing there laughing at me because they know
this happens to me all the time. How nice of them, eh?
Salesman: That's just. Wow. I'm 21, but I look older than
that. Don't I? (Why the hell is he fixated on the age thing?)
Me: Yeah. So... what about this Accord? Or maybe this Civic right here. What's included in the package for this car?

...And that, my friends, is the story of my life.
I still don't have the new car/SUV yet. It's amazing how picky I am about my car, yet I don't have the foggiest idea about anything when it comes to cars.
