Ruined. Forever.
I figured I'd add a little something to this thing, only to find that I have nothing to say. Go figure, eh? So. I'm listening to a bunch of MP3s on shuffle, and The Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" comes on. I liked that song- the verses sound a little trippy, but the chorus sounds so jaunty. I'm kind of singing along to it. Next thing you know, I get this weird image in my head of something that I associated with that song and now the song is forever ruined for me. So what comes to my mind when I hear "LITSWD?" Dissecting cats in my Anatomy and Physiology class during my junior year in high school. The teacher in that class always used to play a bunch of Beatles songs as we were going through the systems in these cats. It reaked of formaldehyde. I remember my lab group naming the cat "Fluffy." Everytime I hear "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," I think, "Poor Fluffy, as we cut through his fascia and make incisions into his liver." Very disturbing. That's the reason that the song is ruined forever for me.
Another song that is ruined forever for me is "There She Goes" by The Las (and covered by Sixpence None the Richer). Once again, another jaunty sounding song that put me in a happy mood whenever I heard it. That is, until I heard it being used in a commercial. A birth control pill commercial, actually. I don't want to hear that song and get an image in my mind of some lady wearing a white dress, frolicking in the meadows as that song plays in the background and a voice-over advertises the BCP. Seriously. No.
I'm pretty sure there are more songs, but I could be here all night. So I'll just end on that note.
