Musical WTF Moments

Have I really become so out of it that I scoff at a lot of the music now? Have I become a music snob, only listening to indie? Meh, maybe. Maybe, at the "ripe old age" of 23, I feel that way. A few days ago, before bed, I plopped myself in front of the tv to channel surf and see what all I've missed out on from working or just doing something other than being a homebody. I'm flipping through the channels, past some country music channel (I absolutely cannot stand country, mind you) and I flip back thinking, "What??! What did he just sing?" Some redneck was singing about a "Honkytonk Badonkadonk." Please. How lame. It just about equals how much I abhor "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas. Remember when the BEP were actually known for having socially conscious songs? OR maybe I'm getting them confused with The Roots. Whatever. "Whatcha gonna do with all that junk/all that junk/inside your trunk?" Not exactly the epitome of clever lyrics.

This isn't so much as a musical wtf moment, but something that's got me wondering. It's that new Madonna song, "Hung Up." I don't like techno, electronica Madonna...but i have to admit, it's a catchy song. I'm not sure, but is part of that song (the strings) sampled? For some reason, I'm thinking it's from an Abba song. Just wondering, that's all.
