There are plenty of ways to secure furniture, mattresses, bicyles, luggage, etc. to the hood of one's car. I mean, there are racks and ropes. But how ghetto is it to have your own kids leaning out each of the back windows of the car and holding on to a mattress on the hood of the car with both hands (as if for dear life) as your puttering along in your car. Ok, I guess the image isn't all that crazy or funny, but I guess you had to be there to see the faces of those kids. They looked embarrassed as hell to be doing it. Rightfully so. I would have been, too.
