The Tall and Short of it
I was just in the process of checking my e-mail and some blogs, when something catches my eye on my homepage (I have MSN set as my homepage). There was a small blurb with a link to an article on Slate which said "'Higher IQ?' Study says taller people are smarter." I thought to myself, "Hm. I wonder what that's all about." I'm 5'1, and I know that the article has to be a crock of shit. So I read it anyway. It basically summarizes a couple of studies where there are supposed correlations between height and intelligence. Pfft. I'm short, so I'm more likely to be a dumbass? I don't think so. I'm not meaning to sound arrogant, but my IQ lies in the "Genius" range, I'm pretty successful and happy being a registered nurse while going for a MSN, all while being "vertically challenged." I have got to be doing better than some tall people. Now, according to this article, I must be an exception. I know a bunch of people that are the exception.
What was the point of this article and the studies that were mentioned? Apparently nothing, in my opinion. The studies and this article must have been written by a group of tall economists who needed a huge ego boost because they were inadequate, right? :-p I don't get why time is spent doing research on something like that. Now how is this specific info supposed to benefit mankind again?
