Speaking of Bugs...

I'm disgusted right now. Completely and utterly disgusted. I'm watching some show on Animal Planet right now (nerd!!!) called "Eaten Alive." It's about parasites and other infestations that people have had. So gross. I can't stand it, but I'm watching it because, in a way, it's a bit interesting. It's like an accident scene, you don't want to look but you find yourself looking anyway. Intestinal tapeworms, worms in the brain, and parasites coming out of orifices gross me out. Makes me want to dry heave. As a nurse, I see A LOT of things that the lay person finds absolutely disgusting, yet doesnt bother me. But the moment I saw the effect of facial infestation by maggots on a patient, I damn near threw up. I'm amazed I didn't.

Oh gross. Some guy from South America went swimming in a lake and ended up getting a tiny parasitic fish surgically removed from his penis. Ouch!!!

As I'm watching this show, I've reached a conclusion: I won't be going camping, swimming in lakes/rivers, or eating food from remote areas of the world anytime soon.
